Just curious, since I bullshitted my way in my first year back in, I think it was, and laughed my ass of the rest of my years hearing all the different ways everyone one has made it in.
One year, it was a contortionist in a foot locker, another year it was some dude who wrapped his girlfriend up in the carpet in the back of the truck (what was she thinking???)
So I would love to hear the stories! C'mon, don't be shy, spread the rumors you've heard or the ways you've gotten in.

Re: How have you gotten into 'that event' for free??
Fri, June 3, 2005 - 1:02 PMin 1999, I had a ticket and they forgot to take it at the gate. So I got in free. Took the green tortoise into town and sold it. That was funny. I really tried to pay to get in. After that, DPW slave labor got me in. -

Re: How have you gotten into 'that event' for free??
Sun, June 5, 2005 - 10:40 AMNot in the middle east yet. But soon. Also added Afghanistan to the job. Probably basing everything out of Istambul. Will know more in a few days. It will be much cheaper to live in Turkey the next two years and fly to the war from there.
Ah, and $50,000 a year. Not bad. I made $20,000 for my last 9 months working on the ranch. ha ha ha. Keep those ticket prices up! I was only jr staff. . . .

Mon, June 6, 2005 - 6:23 PMOf course keep those ticket prices high!
It keeps the event free for us, and pays our paychecks, what, do they all believe that EVERYONE who works for the "man" is a volunteer???!!! BWAAAAAHAHAHA!
Hey, Turkey sounds fantastic as well. If all goes well, we'll be in Mali for a while this summer. And we thought we knew deserts before?? Hehehe. -

Re: How have you gotten into 'that event' for free??
Mon, June 6, 2005 - 9:53 PMMali, as in the land locked African Country? Shit. Dunno if that is the place. Start a regional. I am going to try my hand at starting one in Afghanistan. I want it near mine fields so I dont have to use orange fence. And if you piss off the locals they cut your head off and play polo with it. -

Tue, June 7, 2005 - 9:00 AM2001 was the only year I paid for a ticket... every other year I paid through working for the ticket..
This year it looks I'll be finding other things to do over labor day. :-) -

Re: How have you gotten into 'that event' for free??
Tue, June 7, 2005 - 11:58 AMI think it would be hilarious if the stick was lit a day early.... However there's so many people around the stick which makes it's not a very safe prank... :-(

Wed, July 6, 2005 - 3:09 PMTwo years now with tickets that say "Gift" on the priceline.... whether that's "free" or not is debateable.

Re: How have you gotten into 'that event' for free??
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 4:09 PMI was speaking with someone who was saying that as the traffic flow increased there seemed to be a greater likelyhood that vehicles and whatnot would not be searched last year. Thus if this is the case one has a greater chance of being able to sneak in "hidden" in a vehicle during times when traffic flow is greatest at the gate.
